Crowdfunding is a form of alternative financing. With this form of financing, there is no question of a bank or other financing provider. In general, crowdfunding is done via the internet. An entrepreneur with too little capital starts a campaign on a crowdfunding site with an explanation of what he hopes to achieve with the money and a way to give money. With crowdfunding in the Netherlands, investors can invest on the project. This does not always have to be the case.

Atlantis Financiers is happy to help you with business financing . If you are an entrepreneur with a minimum annual turnover of € 250,000 and with a financing requirement, you can contact us for suitable financing. You can submit a financing application using the form on the right. When we have received these completed, you will usually be contacted within 48 hours.

The request is processed through the form because it asks for all the information we need to assess whether we can help you further.

Different shapes

Different shapes

There are different forms of crowdfunding . There are donations. Hereby the money is donated by the investor to the entrepreneur. The money is therefore given. In this way nothing is expected back by the investor by the investor, except of course that the project gets off the ground. But the entrepreneur does not have to pay anything back if the investor invests in this way.

Another variant is sponsorship. The most important difference between a donation and a sponsorship is that sponsoring usually means that no money is given. This often involves sponsoring clothing, a building or catering at an event. Although no money is given, sponsoring does help. By making a property available, for example, an event can take place that ensures more brand recognition.

A third variant is via loan capital. In this way, money is lent to the entrepreneur by the investor. This money is then repaid by the entrepreneur, with or without interest. It is also possible that investments are made with equity. Hereby the investor takes part in the entrepreneur’s project. In this way there is capital to get the project off the ground, and the investor gets his stake back because he shares in the value development of the company.

Shares

Shares

In the Netherlands it is possible to do crowdfunding through shares. There is a legal limit to this. You then buy a ‘piece’ from the company that you want to help, and then you earn money from it. That way you earn back your investment. Bear in mind that the shares cannot be traded freely at any time. If this were possible, a completely new stock exchange would arise.

It is, however, possible to trade the shares acquired through crowdfunding. The only platform that currently offers this in the Netherlands is Symbid. Here you can choose a project through the site that you believe in, and then invest in. Because it is a share, it ultimately pays for itself.

So you choose a project through the site that you believe in and support, and you invest at least € 20 in it. Everything on the site is arranged according to Dutch legislation. Keep in mind that when a company goes bankrupt, you lose your money. Investing therefore entails risks. Therefore, make sure that you do market research in advance and that you thoroughly study the company in which you want to invest. This way you reduce the chance of losing your stake.

Platforms

There are various sites where you can get money with your company through crowdfunding. Before you put your company on a site, it is important that you do research first. Make sure you know how the different sites work. At some sites, some of the money raised goes to the site. Or that if you did not collect the target amount before the deadline, the money already collected will be returned to the investors.

In addition, some crowdfunding sites are specifically focused on artistic projects. This then concerns music projects and the like. If you want to set up a non-artistic project or company with crowdfunding, it is therefore important to find a different type of site that better suits you, your plans and your company.
